West is a very thorough historian and descriptive writer. Being the civilian I am, I tend to use a map and keep a short, ongoing set of notes to manage the military vernacular, but it's very worth it if you want to understand what really happened at the beginning of the Iraqi war and what transpired there and here politically since which brings us to this point.

Over here, on the earlier side of the Dateline, it's been Christmas for almost an hour and a half. My second one away from my girls and it feels about as bad as the first one away from them. Sigh. Merry C word.
