Hindu Kush range in the background
Photos by Bruno Pagnanelli
Hindu Kush rangeSome young guys from 6-4 Cavalry are out here on Combat Outpost Lowell.
It's their first deployment in Nuristan,
a lethal, remote province in northeast Afghanistan near Pakistan.
They are about to spend their respective 19th or 20 somethingth Thanksgivings
10,000 ft above sea level
in unheated, rock buildings
amidst new fallen snow
and amongst people who's sole purpose for living is seeing these calvarymen dead
and who pursue this endeavor at least once or twice a day.
Be sure to keep these men in mind.
I'll be posting more about them and what we can do for them very soon.
Just tying up some loose ends.

Oh, gosh! Well that definitely puts things in perspective for us here at home, doesn't it?
Reminds me of an old saying from the old Army days in Germany...
"The US Army, travel to exotic distant lands, meet different people from other cultures, learn the language, the customs, then kill them all."
But you got to know that was when I was in the Infantry.... We were a little twisted then.
AWESOME photos. Here's some sites to check out, too: www.tankerbabelc985.vox.com, www.gratitudeprayers.blogspot.com. THANK YOU for supporting them.
LOVED the comment from "D"! ;)
Duh... Just saw Tankerbabe on your sidebar. Cool! ;)
They make it possible for us to have so much.
Way to keep it real...
